My darling, Aloysius...

We went shopping for a pair of shoes for Aloysius last week. When we went to Clarks, we were surprised that he cannot wear the cruising first shoes already. His tiny feet are too big to fit in the cruising shoes. He needs walking first shoes. We tried on a pair, and he’s wearing size 4.5. It’s amazing how big his little feet have grown in just one year. In the end, we settled with a pair of sneakers from Gap. When we let him wear his first pair of shoes, he was amazed. He jumped on the parquet with the “pak pak pak” sounds. He sat on the floor and moved his legs to feel the shoes against the floor. He also sat on the floor to “yan jiu” his shoes. Hahaha…

Yesterday, I brought Aloysius out. He was such a darling. My sis sang a Chinese song to him, and he tried to learn how to sing. It was so cute, and he got some words rite. It’s amazing! Wow… Then my mum taught him to say “aunty”, and he did say “aunty”! It was pretty accurate. Ever since his fever, he has been babbling on and on.

Aloysius can “answer” the phone already. Hahaha… So cute, isn’t it? Everytime when anyone is on the phone, he will stare at us. Just now, my mum let him listen to the phone when my dad called. Aloysius “answered” in his baby language.

This morning, I was packing the clothes and things for our trip to Perth. Aloysius played, rolled, and creeped on the bed. Aloysius gonna wear lots of new clothings in Oz! He has several new long sleeves rompers and jackets. We are very excited about the trip :) It’s gonna be Aloysius’ first time on the flight. I am planning to carry him while he sleeps while on the flight.

Jake's first party!

Last Sunday, we attended baby Jake’s first year old party. It was a very cosy and nice environment. Jake has many toys to share with the other babies. It was really heart warming to see Aloysius playing happily with other babies and toys. All the kids there were so happy moving around and playing with different toys. Jake’s parents had put in a lot of efforts to organize the party, and also to keep the babies entertained. They prepared the simple but delicious food by themselves for the parents. They decorated the place with handmade decors, and a big poster of Jake. Plus a home-made birthday cake! Wow! Isn’t it? The things that they did are full with lots of love and dedication. I felt so loved too. The party inspired me to work harder for Aloysius’ birthday party. Apart from booking a venue, we have not done anything yet. Tsk tsk tsk… :P I better brush up my love and dedication to Aloysius…

After the party, Aloysius fell asleep on our way to HDB Hub for his Shichida class. He was a very good boy during the class. Apart from being very interested in the flashcards, he finally enjoyed the fingers training activities! Hooray!

Aloysius' learning opportunity at 11mth+.

Lately, Aloysius is not interested in any of his toys during his meals. So my mum has resorted to putting pieces of food for him to pick up to feed himself. While he is concentrating on improving his motor skills by picking food up, he will open his mouth to be fed. Hahaha… In order for him to pick one piece as long as possible, my mum started to give him smaller and smaller pieces. Good challenge, eh? He loves his Organix oat biscuits, hence we gave him pieces of biscuits to pick. When it got to the very small piece, guess what he did? Do a guess first…. Hahaha…. He actually used his pointer finger to press on the biscuit to let it stick on his finger and put the biscuit into his mouth. Very cute, isn’t it? Today, he has mastered the art of picking up tofu with his fingers to feed himself. It’s not easy, cos tofu will be mashed up when too much strength is used. It was so fun giving him these type of challenges. Another opportunity for his motor skills development.

I also have been doing his ESP home practice using his favourite Vitality Plus (VP)! I will prepare two caps for bottles. I will vary the sizes daily. Then I will put his all time favourite VP under one of the cap for him to “guess” where is his VP. And he got it right all the time! It’s amazing, isn’t it? He took no effort to remove the cap some more. Hahaha… Then he will pick up the VP to feed himself. Nowadays, he’s very fast in picking up and feeding himself the VP. Last week, he could pick it up, but missed his mouth sometimes. Perhaps will cut his VP into half next to make it more challenging. This morning, I gave him two at one go. He picked one with each hand, then put both hands towards his mouth. He could not decide which one to eat first. He turned his head left and right with his two little hands near his mouth. Hahaha… It was so funny. In the end, he put both sides into his mouth. He knows how to chew now, and he loves chewing his VP! According to Shichida's book, chewing should be encouraged, cos it will enhance the language development. Do start to encourage chewing as young as possible if you want your baby to be able to speak faster... :)

Someone asked me...

Recently, Aloysius fell sick. It was his first time to fall sick. He had high fever for about 24 hours, or rather considered 2 days. Someone asked me what I did when he's sick... We fed him lots of VP and 2 Indinine per day. Hmm… it’s more expensive than seeing a doctor with medications. I still care a lot, though I did not rush him to the doctor. I also sponged him constantly. He dislike the Kodomo fever pad. I used Kinertec V6 to sponge him throughout the day. Kinertec V6 water has invisible far-infrared and negative ions. Apparently, these will help in "detox". He also slept on the Kiko bed pad. I switched it on to the maximum. Again, the Kiko bed pad also has far-infrared and negative ions. I did whatever I can to help him feel better, and hope that his fever will go away fast. His fever was as high as 39.5degC. It was still quite ok to cope with him, luckily. He slept more during the day and nite. I practiced attachment parenting. I carried him most of the time. On the 3rd day, he got better and could play on his own already. Perhaps my kiasu-ness of feeding him lots of VP and Indinine to strengthen his immunity and overall health also pays off when he’s sick. But I am not a kiasu in bringing Aloysius to see a doctor :P. Let me tell you a story of my friend’s case recently and I felt the pain too as a parent.

My friend’s 2 year old boy also fell sick with fever plus cough with phlegm. He had been coughing and having phlegm for about a week already. Apart from that, the boy was completely fine, and could play on his own. Because of the phlegm, my friend and hubby decided to bring him to see a paediatrician. It was recommended that the boy should go to see a physiotherapist to get rid of the phlegm. So they went to see the physiotherapist. The boy was put under a machine to pat his back and chest for a few minutes (sounds like replacing the hand patting with a machine rite?). After the patting, the boy’s hands and legs were strapped down. He started to cry and cry, and stare at the parents, as if to ask the parents for help. My friend and her husband could only watch their boy screamed at the top of his voice. The next thing was an instrument was used to try to suck the phlegm from the nose! Gosh… It must be painful. Imagine something being inserted into your nose! The boy screamed and cried. His head was held down hard by the nurses. Gosh! Then the parents started to see some blood coming out with the phlegm. When I heard this part, my heart broke. A boy who’s still running around, having to go through the pain with blood being sucked! The father teared too and asked them to stop. The father could not take it anymore. I read the story and felt the heart breaks. I cannot imagine how heart broken the parents are. The boy was trembling even on their way home, and was rather clingy for the next few days. He’s certainly emotionally affected by the “therapy”. So poor thing…

I really hope all babies and kids are very healthy, and need not go through what my friend’s boy had gone through. Whatever it is, whether you feed them the organic supplements that I am selling, or feed them any other organic plant based supplements, get their health and immunity stronger. Think twice when you are going to buy those cheap vitamins off the shelves. Mostly are not natural sources and the tiny body might not be able to get rid of them. When left in the body, they become toxin. Sometimes I feel so sad when my friends’ kids get sick when I can only listen.

Perth! Here we come!

We have finalized our trip to Perth. We will be leaving on 19 May and back on 27 May. It’s going to be Aloysius’ first taste of winter :) We are very excited about the trip. Aloysius finally can wear his winter clothings. Hahaha… His grandaunt has bought him two sets of very nice and cute outer winter jacket from Paris early this year, and his loving aunt has bought him a winter jacket from GAP too. He can wear his long sleeves tee and other clothes which his doting godfather, uncle Donald, bought for him from America. It gonna be a self-drive trip. We will be staying by the lakes, at vineyard, in the wilderness, and maybe a farmstay. The farmstay is not confirmed yet as of today.

Hmm… We wanted to organize his first birthday party on 2 June 2007. Till now, apart from booking the venue, nothing has been done :P Time seems a little packed this month of May. We might just have a small family dinner gathering at home. It may be too tiring for a big party already. On 27 May, the day we arrive home, we will be going for a big birthday bash that includes 40 babies born in May06 and June06. Exciting, eh? The theme is “Royal Birthday Bash”. All the boys gonna be dressed like a prince, and gals will be dressed like a princess. Cool, isn’t it? Hmm… maybe will buy something from Perth…

Aloysius fell sick :(

For the past two days, Aloysius was sick. He had high fever as high as 39degC. It started with my sis having a flu, then my future brother-in-law and my mum. Aloysius fever lasted for about 24 hours, luckily. He was tired and slept a lot during these two days. I had to sponge him even at nite. He had not much appetite, so I fed him lots of Kinertec V6 water, lots of Vitality Plus (as much as 20) and 2 Indinine per day. He loves Indinine lots! It’s more expensive than seeing a doctor though. I did not bring him to the doctor though. I took out his new Aprica straw cup. He loves to drink from the straw and can drink lots! Now, he has “sexy”, coarse voice. Hahaha… Apart from his cough and “sexy” voice, he still can play on his own for a while. He still continues to look at the flashcards and speed reading cards that I showed him. I did not try to do the flashcards on purpose and hoping that he will see. But the cards stopped him from fussing.

Oh.. there’s a very cute thing that Aloysius did. You know, I learnt from Shichida that when baby is sick, we can use the 5 minute suggestion to speed up the recovery. One nite, when Aloysius was latching on, and almost falling asleep, I started to say “Aloysius is a healthy boy. Cough, cough go away. Fever, fever go away. Bye bye cough cough, bye bye fever.” Guess what Aloysius did? I thought he already closed his eyes and slept… He stopped latching on and sat up on the bed to wave “bye bye”. So cute, isn’t it?

Aloysius refused to eat his porridge, but loves to eat sweet corn!

Aloysius' playmate -Denzel.

Yesterday, I brought Aloysius to WBG office to meet Ivy and Edmund. They brought their 20 months old Denzel too. Let me describe more of cute and smart Denzel. By the way, Denzel also goes for Shichida class since he was 7 months old. While we were having our lunch, Denzel seemed to be playing with his mommy’s purse. He took out a $1 coin, and got down from the chair. He ran to the stall selling toasts with the coin! He wanted to buy the toasts that cost $1. It’s so amazing that he knew the toasts cost $1. Wow! He actually knows that he gotta exchange products with money.

Hmm… in one of Aloysius’ Shichida class, there’s a pretend play using toy coins the teacher made. However, Aloysius was not interested then. Hahaha… maybe he’s interested in the real coins. Since he loves to play with mobile phones, his grandfather bought him a toy mobile phone. He threw away the toy phone and wanted his grandfather’s real phone!

After lunch, I put Aloysius down on the carpet to creep. He creeped and played with Denzel. Both boys were so lovely. They actually kept hugging each other. Wow! After dinner, I let Aloysius played with Denzel too. Both boys were so happy playing “catching” with each other. Denzel also creeped on the floor with Aloysius. It was so nice to see Aloysius playing so happily with a playmate :). I think I will bring him to WBG more often now since there are a few other Hunza babies there :) hmm… or maybe a “Hunza playgroup”… I was so happy to see Aloysius’ social skill improves a little bit more.

Last Sunday, my friend visited us with her 4 months old cute baby, Karl. Her baby sat in Aloysius’ car exersaucer. When Aloysius saw, he cried a little and pointed to his “car”. Hahaha… He’s not used to seeing other babies playing with his toys. After I told him that we gotta share the toys, he was ok. He even tried to play with the baby :). I was surprised that Aloysius was quite gentle in using his hand to “sayang” Karl. Hmm… Maybe I will organize more home party at my home to invite more babies to come to play with Aloysius and his toys :) Perhaps these are the little things that I can do for his social skills development…
