Burung kakak :)

I thought of finding the lyrics for "Burung kakak" and learn to sing to Aloysius :) I sang this song when young. Luckily I can remember the music. This song was taught in the Shichida class.

Burung kakak tua
Hinggap di jendela
Nenek sudah tua
Giginya tinggal dua
Letrum, letrum, letrum
Oo la la,
Letrum, letrum, letrum
Oo la la
Letrum, letrum, letrum
Oo la la
Burung kakak tua.

Yesterday's Shichida lesson was ok. Aloysius was quite a handful. At the start of the lesson, he managed to blow :) He blowed without the saliva successfully for a while :) He stared at either Chloe or Myra during the photographic memory and ESP sessions, no matter how the teacher tried to attract his attention. hahaha... During the singing and part of the manual flashcards sessions, I gave him his teether, and he was a good boy for these sessions. He enjoyed the chinese song (dang1 wo3 hai2 shi4 wa1 wa4), and some parts of "burung kakak". And also the abacus song. He wanted me to carry and hug him most of the time. Upon much persuasion and high energy me, he managed to do one fingers training (fish tank). Just before the class, he was sleeping, and slept for 15 minutes only. It was his sleeping time for the past one week :( How to change his schedule? ***headache*** I wondered what went wrong. I must have done something not right some where. Any suggestions?

My "pai du" day & "The infant brain" book.

hmm.. Today is my "pai du" day ah... I started to eat fibre plus pro twice a day again. I think I must have eaten too much cookies and "toxic" food for the past few months. I went to the toilet to do big business 3 times today. Mind you, it's not diarrhoea hor.. kekeke... cos I dun eat lots of seafood :P

I want to mentally "pai du" ! Hope I can achieve that after a seminar called "power of visualisation" in 2 weeks' time. I am bringing Aloysius with me too :) If you are interested, email to me then.

Anyway, I managed to browse through "The Infant Brain" book that I received from the sinsei during the last Shichida lesson. At one section, it was stated that during breastfeeding, if I eat lots of meat, eggs, and dairy food, my breasts will tend to get engorged and the breast milk will have a smell and taste that babies dislike. hmm... I do take some meat (mainly pork), and lots of brown rice and vegetables. It is stated that a diet of brown rice and vegetables produces milk of good quality that will allow babies to nurse happily. hmm... No wonder Aloysius refused to get wean off from my breasts... hahaha... I remember that someone told me that frozen breast milk will have a fishy smell. Well, my frozen breast milk does not smell fishy though :).

Oops... toilet training gotta start from 3-4 months. After this stage, it will be difficult. hmm... Aloysius is "trained" to pass motion in his diapers :(. He cried when he wanted to pass motion and when his diaper was removed. However, my mum managed to catch a small little dot of faeces this afternoon in his "Mr Potty".

From 5 to 7 months, we should talk to baby actively and let other people outside the family to talk to him and hold him. So far, we have been doing this :). Aloysius seems to be very attractive. Many people, including strangers seem to like to carry him, talk to him and play with him - in WBG, at shopping centers, at bus-stops, on MRT, at supermarkets. I just hope the stranger dun allow Aloysius to put their finger into his mouth...

hahaha.. I am reading something funny here. By the way, I am typing and reading the booklet :). From 8 to 9 months old babies will cry hard, stop suddenly, and start crying again. Aloysius has been doing this! Guess what it is? hahaha... He's experimenting with the sound of his own cries! Ok, I shall not pick him up next time when he does this to avoid spoiling him. hahaha...

Oh, from 9 to 10 months, the baby's diet should resemble that of adults. hmm... ***scratch *** scratch***

From 11 to 12 months, the baby should be able to chew, and chewing is important for clear vocalisation. Baby who can chew well can move his tongue well :). How to encourage chewing? Aloysius likes to chew papers though. hahaha... For speech development, the strong muscles of the upper body are also very important. Maybe that's why brachiation is important in GD. I wanna buy the "How to teach your baby physically superb" book. Any good book offers around? Please let me know.

It is stated not to give babies too much sugar. Diets high in meat, eggs, dairy, processed food, artificial fruit drinks, can cause a child to become rebellious, hyper-active, prone to sickness, and intellectually backward. hmm... I hope I can achieve a diet of lots of vegetables till Aloysius is 3 years old. But the parents gotta change first for it to be a success. No cakes, breads, cookies, chocolates, ice-cream for me soon... And these are my favourites. I dun eat titbits and sweets anymore, so that's not a challenge, but I still love cakes. How ah? Gotta give away all those Bengawan solo vouchers I received for full months already. hee... sometimes I wish I dun get more Bengawan solo vouchers... it's too much cake already cos my hubby will receive almost every month, sometimes a few per month! :P

Aloysius' weaning process (1).

During the Shichida's method parents' class last Wednesday, it was mentioned that there will be a seminar soon for kids' diet. I am eagerly waiting for it :). But dunno if it will be the same as Shichida's recommendation, or changed to adapt the general public in Singapore. From his books, I think he's towards a holistic diet, more on a vegetarian diet. hmm... Perhaps one of these days, I will have to get to Bras Basah again to get his book on diet. During the seminar, it was mentioned that baby should drink lots of water, and eat 5 colours of vegetables. hmm... sounds like what I have read and practicing on myself most of the times. And also high vitamins fruits like strawberry, grapefruit, kiwi, guava, grapes :).

So far, I have only introduced fruits and vegetables to Aloysius. From alternative health point of view, fruits and vegetables can be digested easily. Hence, in view of the developing digestive system of Aloysius, I decided to only give him fruits and vegetables. As for brown rice cereal, some say it can be the first weaning food, some say it cannot be easily digested. Therefore, I have not introduced brown rice cereal. I read that the food that we feed young babies during weaning will affect their digestive system when they grow up. It's kinda like a long term effect which will stay with them throughout their life. Hence, I am careful on what Aloysius eats now.

He had tasted watermelon, pear, fuji apples, sharon fruit, bananas, papaya, guava. He can bite off a small piece with his strong jaws and sharp tooth.

Aloysius only have puree food meal once a day. I will be starting him on puree food meal for twice a day soon. For vegetables, he ate sweet potato, potato, pumpkin, carrots, avocado, zucchini, spinach. Potato will be the filler for his meal, with added one type of vegetables nowadays. He has enjoyed potato with avocado (mash), potato with spinach (mash), spinach with zucchini (blend). I have tried giving him broccoli, but havent been successful cos I did not use the blender. Probably will try broccoli and cauliflower next :) These are nutritious vegetables.

When we went to Bintan earlier, I also gave him some jar food from "Organic baby", namely peas, winter squash, oat and prune, spinach and carrots. And he enjoyed them very much. He can finish one jar in a meal.

hmm... and he had a taste of bread :(. Thanks to a friend who fed him with bread before asking me. I am guilty for not being vigilant too... If you do read about alternative health, you will know about why bread is not good. Bread will cause "havoc" in adults' digestive system. It can be worse in babies whose digestive systems are still developing. Logical rite? :)

Aloysius is not drinking a lot of milk now. I am a bit worried that he will be under-mourished. And he seems to have lost weight. He can creep everywhere around the house for 3 hours non-stop! Hence, I will add in vitality plus in his food. And feed him Indinine more often, mainly for the DHA for his brain development.

I gave him oatmeal with avocado once. I got to know that oatmeal contain gluten, and gluten might damage baby's delicate gut lining. Hence, I will stop oatmeal till he's about 10 months. Luckily I have not given him the "organic" teething biscuits cos it contains gluten.

I went to MPH yesterday and browsed through a book by Dr. Bernard Jensen. He's the father of alternative health in America. It was mentioned that young kids will need green vegetables with lots of iron after 6 months, when their iron store is getting insufficient. He suggested to add juice from alfafa, broccoli, or spinach into baby's food. hmm... I think vitality plus should be enough cos it's very green... kekeke... ;) Vitality plus is an organic whole food with high iron and calcium, which I think is needed for growing Aloysius :)

My hubby's 1st birthday with Aloysius :)

Last Saturday was my hubby's birthday :) I asked my mum and brother to buy his favourite "char kuey tiao" for him from JB. My brother bought the chocolate banana cake from Secret Recipe for him :). My parents in laws also bought a cake from breadtalk. We celebrated his birthday at home with family members. After that, we went to Romanos for dinner :) It was a relaxing and peaceful day :) A "wen xing" day that is :)

Over the weekend, we had lowered the Aloysius' baby cot to the lowest. He seems to love it in there. He can play, roll, creep, stand in it for a while. Nowadays, I will put him in his cot to sleep and play. He ain't gonna fall from his cot, is he? :)

Yesterday, we went for his second Shichida class :). It was an enjoyable class. In the morning, we went out for breakfast and collected another stack of 1000 flashcards. When we reached home, I fed Aloysius with potato mixed with avocado. He loves it :). He played and played and did not want to nap. I was a little bit worried. On the way there, on the cab, I finally managed to get him to nap. He was still sleeping till we entered the classroom. He woke up on his own and was greeted by his pretty sinsei :) It's his daddy's turn to go for the class with him. Before the class started, we had a little chat with the sinsei :) Looks like there are "compulsory" materials that we will need to buy from the "Tensai" shop for the program. One of them is the linking memory cards set. Throughout the class, Aloysius was very active and attentive. And he received two stamps for ESP games and flashcards in his little booklet :) Yeah! He had done very well for ESP and flashcards. At the end of the lesson, he started to creep on the floor, exploring the around the classroom. He's indeed my "little explorer". It seems like there will be some different things done in the class weekly. For last week, I haven't started to do additional home practice with Aloysius. Looks like in order to be able to catch up, I better work harder for him :) There are certain things which are done in class, which I have been doing with Aloysius on and off. The activities for his age group are listed in one of Shichida's books titled "ling2 sui4 jiao4 yu4 ji1 chu3". If you are interested, go get that book and do some reading :) I have lend my book to a friend. Gotta get it back to revise again :)

Lately, somehow I have switched on the "flashcards buttons" in him. kekeke... He seems to love flashcards now. Yesterday, before we went out, I managed to flash 60 cards to him :) and he looked at them through.

For the new stack of 1000 flashcards, I am very satisfied with them :). It's organised and printed by a mommy whose son is also attending Shichida class. I have started to use them. Aloysius will look at them. Surprised, eh? And of course, very fulfilling and happy for me. For the previous 1000 flashcards, Aloysius is not interested. hmm... I guess, it's the cards then. For this stack, the pictures are better in quality and clearer. There are cliparts which followed the Shichida method. Well, it works :) It made my day when Aloysius looks at all of them. Cliparts are not encouraged in Glen Doman's method though. Well, both Shichida and Glen Doman's methods work. This time, I will use whatever is to my convenience :) Else it gonna be "fan3 xiao4 guo3" if I gonna get too stressed up about looking for materials :)

I am so "heng ah"...

hmm.... I feel something and I wanna write to get it out... Pardon me it's not very pleasant though...

I logged into my MSN yesterday after a long long time :) I chatted with a friend in UK whom I had not been chatting with for many months. In our last few chats, she was rather cold towards me. It made me think is it because she had graduated with a PhD, and I have not? Well, we were very good friends and buddy when I was in the UK. And I do really appreciate her company and help when I was there from the bottom of my heart. I thought, maybe I have been thinking too much.

hmm... she heard about me "teaching" Aloysius well, and asked me about it. Not a very good conversation though. I tried not to say too much, cos she does not have a kid, and might not understand. And I wanna avoid friction and argument about parenting. But I gotta answer since she asked rite? From the seminars that I have attended, I learned not to put my own point of views on someone else. I had a feel of how she put her views on me. It's like choking me... :( She commented that my kid is pitiful. And assumed that Aloysius is not a happy baby :( She has not seen Aloysius, nor play with him before! Then she went on telling me how happy another friend's gal (about 2 years old) is, and how disciplined she is. How good the parents are in not letting her get whatever she wants, etc etc. And how her neighbour disciplined her very well disciplined kid by letting the kid cry it out till he's tired and kept quiet :( She believes that parents should be in control of the kids, then that's good parenting. I just let her have her say, and try not to say too much...

Well, the chat ended when Aloysius woke up and I gotta go :) I am so "heng ah"... :) I am telling myself that it's not her fault. She's not a parent and we have different experiences. Aloysius is a very happy baby, and will always bring laughters and happiness to many people. He's a friendly baby with high EQ. Learning is part of growing up, and is a very natural and easy thing :) The thirst for knowledge and exploration will stay with him forever, just like his daddy and mommy. May God bless Aloysius with lots of blessings, luck, happiness, health forever... And also May God bless all babies and kids in the world with lots of blessings, luck, happiness, health forever... :)

Our happy Aloysius :)

Aloysius' rashes.

When we were at Bintan, Aloysius had bad eczema like rashes all over his neck. It got worse as the days go by. Luckily it has subsided now. I suspected it's the chlorine in the water and the pool water. It cannot be heat rashes, cos we switched on the air-condition plus fan almost the whole day. When we were at Bintan, we brought him for swimming almost daily. It was spreading to his whole neck and going to his head already on the day we came back. It's a rather worrying, isn't it? He did not get rashes when he swam at home. Usually after his swim, I will bath him in the chlorine free and chlorine removing water. When we reached home, I quickly bath him in the water. After 3 days, his rashes are gone :) Yeah! It proved that it's the chlorine that's causing his eczema like rashes on the neck... hmm... next time for any trips, gotta add the showerhead in the packing list already... :) Gonna buy another one to put in the luggage bag for our next trip :)

Aloysius is 7 months old!

Aloysius is 7 months old already :) We celebrated his 7 months old at Indra Maya on Bintan island. There were many other babies too. The ferry ride to and fro were pretty uncomfortable. On our way there, Aloysius vomitted 3 times. He was such a good boy, cos he tried to soothe himself before he started to vomit. On our way back, he was very smart. He wanna be carried throughout the journey. He did not allow us to sit down on the ferry. I guess when he's carried, he's being cushioned from the swaying ferry.

I bought him some jar food from "organic baby". My mom fed him peas, spinach and carrots, and prunes and oat. He loves them :). Looks like I gonna buy more of these jar food for him :) It was pretty convenient when we travel. I will have to buy many bottles when we go to the UK.

Aloysius has finally started to creep in a cross pattern, but not very gracefully yet... lol... It was very funny. But haven't got the opportunity to capture it with video. He had lots of opportunities to stand when we were at Bintan. He loves to stand. He can hold on to the legs of chairs to stand on his own from sitting position. He can hold on to the rails of the cot to stand, hold on to his exersaucer to stand. He can also hold on to my fingers to stand from tummy position :) Babies develop very fast, don't they?

Yesterday, we went for his first Shichida class :). Aloysius slept for 1.5 hours before the class. I also fed him about an hour before the class. So, well-fed and well-rested Aloysius was a happy baby during the class :) There are 4 other classmates - Ivan, Chloe, Myra, Andrew. At the beginning of the class, Aloysius was a little bit distracted. I just let him look wherever he wanted. He was interested in another tired and crying baby. The sinsei will continue despite any crying baby. Towards the end of the lesson, Aloysius was getting a little bit restless. I let him stood up and jumped. The baby next to him was distracted now. hmm... the father used his hand to cover the baby's vision from Aloysius. Well, for right brain training to succeed, the baby gotta be relaxed and there should not be any expectations too :) I just took it as a lesson for Aloysius to play and explore on his own :) I believe he will absorb everything the sinsei taught even though he's not looking. If he looks at other babies, he's exploring faces and expressions of others :). I will write about what were done during the lesson when I have the time :) The pace was pretty fast and interesting.

Today is my birthday :) hmm... I am only a little bit eagerly waiting to celebrate my birthday though. It's my first birthday with Aloysius. At the back of my mind is my thesis. I think this is really draining my energy. I wanna get it over and done with. hahaha... I am eagerly wanting to pursue my money making dream :) Imagine all the babies in the next generation are all very happy, smart and relaxed adults :) And having learning, reading skills like the speed of lightning :) Imagine the low morale, low confidence, and low self esteem "FAT FAT Club" in school going out of business... How wonderful… Isn’t it? :) Make it a wish for my birthday ba :)
